Jeffrey R. Glass (Partner,
Belleville office) has served on the Executive Committee since 1991. A leader in the firm, Mr. Glass is the Regional Director of Hinshaw's Southwest Region, which encompasses the firm’s St. Louis and Belleville and Edwardsville, Illinois, offices. He is also the partner-in-charge of both the Belleville and Edwardsville offices and the Chair of Hinshaw's Diversity Committee. Mr. Glass concentrates his practice in the defense of professional liability, hospital and nursing home liability, products liability, and all types of catastrophic injury, wrongful death and property damage claims. He routinely defends accountants, architects and engineers, lawyers, and physicians and hospitals against claims of negligence. A prolific trial lawyer, Mr. Glass has successfully tried to verdict in excess of 110 major jury trials.
Penelope M. Lechtenberg (Partner,
Rockford office) has been elected to serve her first, three-year term on the Executive Committee. She represents management in labor and employment law matters before federal and state courts and administrative agencies. She also maintains a substantial business and personal immigration practice. Ms. Lechtenberg advises corporate and individual clients in immigration matters involving U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services, Department of Labor and Department of State, on issues such as immigration petitions, audits and workplace investigations. She also serves as an Arbitrator for the Circuit Court of the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit, Winnebago County, Illinois. Ms. Lechtenberg joined Hinshaw in 1995.
Thomas Y. Mandler (Partner,
Chicago office), who joined Hinshaw in 2003, will be serving his first three-year term on the firm’s Executive Committee. He has for more than 35 years focused his practice on advising management on all types of labor and employment law matters. Mr. Mandler defends discrimination charges, drafts employment policies and provides proactive management training. He likewise counsels management on how to comply with the complex federal, state and local laws relating to hiring, discipline and discharge decisions. In addition, he represents both private and public sector employers on a nationwide basis in collective bargaining, grievance and arbitration proceedings, and strikes and injunctions. In 2006, and again in 2007, Mr. Mandler was named as one of the “Top One Hundred Labor Attorneys in the United States” by the Labor Relations Institute, an honor that places him in the top one percent of labor attorneys in the country. He currently serves as an Associate Editor for the ABA/BNA book entitled, Discipline and Discharge in Arbitration, and as a Topic Author of the ABA/BNA book entitled, Elkori: How Arbitration Works.
Douglass A. Marshall (Partner,
Peoria office) will be serving his third consecutive three-year term on Hinshaw’s Executive Committee. Mr. Marshall joined Hinshaw in June 1982 and focuses his practice on hospital and health care law, employment law, computer contracting, and corporate and general business matters. Much of his work involves service as general counsel and special counsel to hospitals and other healthcare providers in Illinois. Mr. Marshall is a past member of the Board of Directors of the Illinois Association of Healthcare Attorneys as well as Past President of that organization.
Daniel W. McGrath (Partner,
Chicago office) will be serving his second, consecutive three-year term on the Executive Committee. Mr. McGrath joined Hinshaw in June 1982. Years ago, when he was a non-equity partner, Mr. McGrath was selected by his peers at the firm to be its first elected representative serving on the firm’s Executive Committee. Mr. McGrath is chair of Hinshaw’s Toxic Tort Specialty Group and was previously co-leader of the firm’s Defense Litigation Practice Group. He is an experienced trial lawyer, with nearly 25 years of experience in the preparation and trial of products liability, toxic tort, environmental, construction and commercial litigation matters. He has substantial experience with mass tort and multidistrict litigation.
Daniel K. Ryan (Partner,
Chicago office) will be serving his third, three-year term on the firm’s Executive Committee. Since joining Hinshaw in 1988, Mr. Ryan has contributed significantly to the firm’s growth and management, having served on the Hiring Committee, the Associate Evaluation Committee and as an instructor for Hinshaw University, the firm’s associate attorney training program. He has a diverse commercial litigation practice, although he is particularly recognized and distinguished for his strategic ability to successfully and aggressively resolve business disputes, especially in matters tried in federal courts and through arbitration. Mr. Ryan’s technical background includes a unique combination of capabilities in class action lawsuits, health care litigation, ERISA litigation, employment law and employment discrimination issues. He also has broad experience with “special remedies” such as temporary restraining orders, preliminary injunctions and other forms of equitable relief.
Peter D. Sullivan (Partner,
Chicago office) was re-elected to the Executive Committee after completing two, three-year terms that began in 2002. A leader in the firm, he is also a regional director of litigation for the firm's Chicago-Metro area offices. Mr. Sullivan practices in trial and litigation of complex professional liability and commercial litigation cases, including those involving accountants and attorneys, breach of contract, consumer class actions, director and officer liability, and insurance coverage. He also focuses on business tort litigation, common law fraud actions, lender liability suits, real estate litigation, RICO claims, state and federal securities law claims, and UCC litigation. Mr. Sullivan joined Hinshaw in May 1983.
Matthew P. Walsh, II (Partner,
Chicago office) will be serving his first three-year team on the Executive Committee. Mr. Walsh joined Hinshaw as an associate in 1999 and was promoted to capital partner in 2006. He is an accomplished and experienced trial lawyer, having tried 28 jury trials to verdict. Mr. Walsh concentrates his practice in complex litigation with particular emphasis on commercial, construction, employment, medical malpractice and municipal law matters. His clients include multimillion-dollar companies as well as doctors, general contractors, hospitals, law enforcement agencies, local units of government, police departments, religious organizations, and state and local officials. In January 2007, Mr. Walsh was appointed by the Illinois Supreme Court to a two-year term as a member of the Committee on Character and Fitness. In 2004, Mr. Walsh was named by the prestigious Chicago Daily Law Bulletin and Chicago Lawyer magazine as one of the top "40 Illinois Attorneys Under 40 to Watch."
Hinshaw is governed nationally by a Management Committee, comprised of seven capital partners who set the strategic direction of the firm and make all key decisions relating to the governance of the partnership. The firm's Chairman,

Hinshaw's 25-member Executive Committee is an advisory board to the Management Committee focused on strategic issues as well as operational improvements. Also, on decisions that require a vote of the partnership, including partnership elections, the Management Committee will make proposals first to the Executive Committee for its review and consideration before bringing these to the partnership for a vote.
