Barbara Fernandez Recognized Among the Top 100 Under 50 Diverse Executive & Emerging Leaders
Coral Gables, Florida — The national law firm of Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP announced today that Partner Barbara Fernandez was named as one of Diversity MBA Magazine’s Top 100 Under 50 Diverse Executive & Emerging Leaders. A strong leader among the legal and Coral Gables community, Ms. Fernandez was chosen from a group of more than 300 highly competitive candidates from public and privately held companies as well as entrepreneurs, and not for profit organizations.
As a member of the Commercial Litigation Practice, Ms. Fernandez focuses her litigation practice in the areas of consumer and class action litigation. She has extensive experience in the defense of individual and class action claims involving the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), Florida Consumer Collection Practices Act, Telephone Consumer Protection Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, and the Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act. Her clients include lending institutions, debt collection agencies, debt buyers and lawyers.
Ms. Fernandez also serves as Co-Chair of Hinshaw’s Hispanic/Latino Attorney Network and is a member of the Evaluation Committee for Hinshaw’s Attorney Life Committee. She is an active member of the Cuban American Bar Association. In addition to her work outside of her practice, in 2013 Ms. Fernandez was selected as one of the Daily Business Review’s "Rising Stars" and named as one of South Florida Business Journal’s “40 Under 40” in 2012.

Ms. Fernandez earned her bachelor’s degree from Florida International University (1997) and her J.D from University of Miami School of Law (2001).
