David S. Weinstein Discusses Criminal Defense Strategies Following Mass School Shooting in Florida
Hinshaw's David S. Weinstein spoke to the Daily Business Review about legal defense strategies in the wake of the shooting at Parkland, Florida's Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on February 14, 2018, in which 17 people died.
Weinstein, a former federal prosecutor, said the ability to drown out background noise and focus on the job at hand, particularly in this case, would be imperative in any criminal defense strategy. "With the number of victims," Weinstein said, "it's clearly on paper a case that qualifies for the death penalty. However, they've got to balance the aggravating against the mitigating factors."
