New York Partner Ed Lenci Speaks With Irish National Public Broadcaster About Brexit's Impact
Ed Lenci, a New York-based partner and chair of the firm's Reinsurance practice, was interviewed late last week by RTÉ, Ireland's National Public Service Broadcaster. Lenci was in Dublin, Ireland, in his capacity as the U.S. Co-Chair of the New York State Bar Association International Section's Spring Conference. Hinshaw's Janis Meyer was also a speaker at the event, on the topic of legal ethics.
Lenci said the NYSBA International Section had decided to bring hold its Spring Conference to Dublin because the city is an important business and legal center and will likely become more so as a result of Brexit, the United Kingdom's planned withdrawal from the European Union. He explained that Brexit will likely benefit Ireland because it is an English-speaking, common law jurisdiction and the Dublin Dispute Resolution Centre offers international arbitration services. He said that US law firms would serve themselves well to pay attention to what happens in Ireland.
RTÉ published an article online titled "Brexit to present Irish legal system with opportunities" describing the interview. You can also listen to the interview in its entirety.
