Hinshaw Obtains Appellate Victory for Sangamon County Deputy Sheriff in Section 1983 Excessive Force Lawsuit
August 29, 2016
Raylene DeWitte Grischow and William P. Hardy obtained a victory for defendant Sangamon County Deputy Sheriff before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit in a bar owner's lawsuit involving Section 1983 and false arrest claims. The bar owner had alleged that the deputy sheriff used excessive force when he tased the bar owner during a bar fight. In March 2015,
Ms. Grischow obtained a defense verdict for the deputy sheriff in the trial court. The appellate court affirmed that verdict.
