Hinshaw Partner James W. Keeling Named Rockford University Honorary Alumnus
The U.S law firm of Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP today announced that partner James W. Keeling has been honored with an Honorary Alumnus award by Rockford University. The award was presented at a recent ceremony presided over by University President Eric W. Fulcomer, Ph.D.
Keeling is the immediate past Chair of the Rockford University Board of Trustees, and has served on the Board since 2008.
In his official remarks, President Fulcomer said the University was bestowing Keeling with the honor on the grounds of his distinguished community service and service to the University.
Keeling has held leadership positions in numerous local organizations such as Transform Rockford, Perryville Path Project, Rockford Park District Foundation, Rock River Valley Peace Coalition, and River South Development Foundation, just to name a few. He is the Founder and Co-Chair of Rockford’s Keeling-Puri Peace Plaza, a city landmark, and co-hosts International Day of Peace events in Rockford.
Keeling's community and civic leadership has resulted in several distinguished awards, including: Rockford Register Star “Excalibur Award”; Rockford Chamber of Commerce “Citizen of the Year”; Rockford Housing Authority “Jane Addams Peace Award”; Winnebago Bar Foundation “Seely Forbes Service Award”; Central Asia Institute Humanitarian Award; and the Turkish American Society of Rockford Humanitarian Award.
He earned his J.D. from the University of Colorado School of Law in 1974 and his B.A. from Lawrence University in 1970. He has served as Practice Group Leader of Hinshaw's Commercial Transactions practice, and also as the partner-in-charge of the firm's Rockford Office. He concentrates his law practice on business and commercial transactions, estate planning, and real estate.
