Hinshaw Partner Leonor M. Lagomasino Elected to Three-Year Term as a National Director of DRI
Litigation attorney Leonor M. Lagomasino, a partner in the Miami office of the U.S. law firm of Hinshaw & Culbertson, has been elected to a three-year term as a National Director of DRI, the leading organization of defense attorneys and in-house counsel who strive to provide high-quality, balanced and excellent service to their clients and corporations. She was elected at DRI’s Annual Meeting held in San Francisco October 17-21, 2018.
For almost 30 years, Lagomasino has devoted her diverse litigation practice to representing first party insurers as well as both large and small businesses in a broad variety of complex matters. In the insurance arena, Lagomasino's successful representation of insurers primarily includes defending individual and ERISA claims brought under life and disability policies. She also defends insurers in a vast array of other first party claims, including bad faith. In the non-insurance arena, Lagomasino’s practice includes representing clients in complex business and contractual disputes, construction defect claims, and real property-related claims.
Lagomasino has had a leadership role with DRI since 2010. She served as Chair of DRI's Life, Health and Disability Committee (2016–2018); Vice-Chair of that Committee (2016-2014); Program Chair (2014); and Membership Chair (2010–2013). During her tenure, Lagomasino successfully implemented numerous diversity initiatives which significantly expanded the leadership role of women and other diverse members within the Life, Health, and Disability Committee.
Active in the South Florida community, Lagomasino serves on the board of the Deering Estate Foundation and is one of the 100 Ladies of Deering. She was a Trustee of Dade Heritage Trust and a member of the United Way Women's Leadership Circle until this past year. Lagomasino earned her J.D. from the University of Florida's Fredric G. Levin College of Law and her B.B.A., cum laude, from Loyola University New Orleans.
