Barbara Fernandez Named Partner-in-Charge of Hinshaw's Miami Office
The law firm of Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP is pleased to announce that Consumer Financial Services Partner Barbara Fernandez has been named Partner-in-Charge of the firm's Miami office.

Fernandez focuses her litigation practice in the areas of consumer financial services and class action litigation. She has extensive experience in the defense of individual and class action claims involving the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), Florida Consumer Collection Practices Act, Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), and the Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act. She also defends mortgage servicers, lenders, and trustees of securitized mortgage trusts in matters alleging predatory lending, mortgage fraud, and challenges to mortgage holders' right to foreclose. Her clients include lending institutions, debt collection agencies, loan servicing institutions, debt buyers, and lawyers. Fernandez joined Hinshaw in 2002 as an Associate and was promoted to Partner in 2007.
Fernandez is a member of Hinshaw's Diversity Committee, a co-editor of Hinshaw's Consumer Financial Services blog, Consumer Crossroads, and serves as the Office Mentor Coordinator (OMC) of the Coral Gables/Miami office. She is admitted in Florida, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit and the U.S. District Court for the Middle, Northern, and Southern Districts of Florida. Fernandez holds a J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law and a B.S., cum laude, from Florida International University.
