Hinshaw's Charles Thomas Honored with WCBA Edward Potter Lathrop Medal
The national law firm of Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP is pleased to announce that attorney Charles Thomas of the firm's Rockford office was recently honored as the recipient of the Edward Potter Lathrop medal. Thomas received the award at the Annual Meeting of the Winnebago County Bar Association (WCBA) and the Winnebago County Bar Foundation. Over the course of the WCBA's nearly 30 year history, the award has only been given 13 times. The award is named for the first President of the WCBA and is given to a WCBA member—as chosen by the Board of Directors—whose work in the field of law and participation in civic affairs has had a "significant and positive influence" on the profession and on the "quality of community life."
Thomas has practiced law in Rockford for more than 50 years. He has served as an advisor to Rockford area banking institutions for more than 30 years, including 24 years as a member—a decade of which was spent as the Chairman—of the Board of Directors for National City Bank (formerly known as City National Bank). He continues his 50 year tenure as a member of the Board of Directors of the Byron Bank. Thomas has also served on many community and charitable organizations, including more than 30 years on the OSF Healthcare System board.
As Of Counsel at Hinshaw, Thomas advises clients on general corporate and business law matters, focusing on mergers and acquisitions, corporate health care law and general business transactions. He earned his J.D. and B.S. from Georgetown University.
