Claims Journal Reports That Several Insurance Commissioners Are Wary of Business Interruption COVID-19 Claims
Jim Sams of the Claims Journal reported on a series communications by insurance commissioners in Georgia, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, West Virginia and the District of Columbia. He explained how all of them expressed various degrees of doubt as to whether business interruption coverage is owed for losses caused by coronavirus shutdowns. The article was later republished by sister publication Carrier Management Journal.
Sams cited as his source a Hinshaw advisory titled "State Insurance Commissioners Weigh In On Business Interruption Coverage for COVID-19 Losses."
"Several Insurance Commissioners Wary of Business Interruption COVID-19 Claims" was published by Carrier Management Journal, April 30, 2020, and Claims Journal, April 28, 2020.
