Experienced Energy Lawyer Added to the Hinshaw Team in New Orleans
Colleen Jarrott brings regulatory and litigation experience with the oil and gas industry and emerging renewable energy and environmental matters
Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP today announced that Colleen Jarrott has joined the firm as a partner in the New Orleans office. Formerly with Baker Donelson, Jarrott has more than 20 years of litigation experience in a wide range of industries, as well as advising oil and gas industry clients on legislative and regulatory matters related to carbon capture, utilization, and sequestration (CCUS).
"Colleen's experience with various state environmental agencies adds significant depth to our environment and energy team," said Lauren Campisi, partner-in-charge of the New Orleans office. "She has extensive experience advising oil and gas companies on the emerging challenges of renewable energy and energy transition, specifically carbon capture and sequestration. We're thrilled that she has joined the firm."
With more than two decades of litigation experience, Jarrott represents companies in oil and gas, transportation, and various other industries in complex commercial litigation, transactional matters, commercial contracts, and regulatory issues. In addition, she is well-versed in developing state regulatory and legislative initiatives related to the Louisiana Geologic Sequestration of Carbon Dioxide Act. She serves on the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources' Ad Hoc Committee on Carbon Capture and the Carbon Capture Committees of the Louisiana Mid-Continent Oil & Gas Association and the Louisiana Oil & Gas Association. Jarrott regularly represents oil and gas companies in matters before the Louisiana State Mineral and Energy Board, the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources, and the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality.
"Hinshaw provides me with a great opportunity to expand my energy transition practice," Jarrott said. "Teaming up with Hinshaw partner Bessie Daschbach on Hinshaw's ESG initiative, we can provide clients with a 360-degree view towards regulatory compliance and litigation related to mineral law, renewable energy, and ESG. I am well-situated to assist energy clients with the emerging challenges and compliance issues associated with carbon capture and sequestration. Our oil and gas industry clients have a growing need for advice and counsel on energy transition matters and the evolving regulatory landscape."
Prior to joining Baker Donelson in 2016, she practiced at Slattery, Marino & Roberts for almost ten years. She received her B.A. in politics from The Catholic University of America and earned her J.D. from The Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law. While in law school, she served on Law Review and was a judicial intern with the U.S. Court of Federal Claims. After earning her J.D., she was a law clerk for the Hon. Robert H. Hodges, Jr., with the U.S. Court of Federal Claims for two years.
In addition to her busy practice, Jarrott serves as president of the New Orleans Bar Foundation and is chair of the Energy Law Committee of the New Orleans Bar Association. She is also a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association Oil & Gas Section and serves on the board of directors of the Louisiana Bar Foundation. Currently, she co-chairs the Louisiana Bar Foundation's annual gala.
