Connie Montoya Selected as a Diversity Initiative Winner in the 2023 NYLJ New York Legal Awards
The law firm of Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP is pleased to announce that partner Connie Montoya has been selected as an honoree in the Diversity Initiative category of the 2023 New York Law Journal New York Legal Awards. The Journal recognized winners in the Diversity Initiative category for their "significant contributions to progressing diversity and inclusion efforts in New York’s legal community." Montoya was among seven honorees selected from the New York bar.
All honorees will be recognized at the New York Legal Awards gala in Manhattan on October 5, 2023.
In addition to her active practice as a partner in Hinshaw's Labor and Employment practice group, defending companies in employment law and consumer protection litigation matters, Montoya has been a driving force behind implementing inclusion programs within her firm and the legal community. She is a member of the firm's Diversity Committee, which promotes and implements initiatives that increase the visibility of diverse Hinshaw attorneys and create opportunities for their professional growth and development. She also works with Hinshaw’s Asian Pacific American and LGBTQ+ Affinity Groups in creating various programs designed to support and retain diverse lawyers.
Montoya was one of the founding members and a past president of the Filipino American Lawyers Association of New York, a former board member and current Judiciary Committee member of the LGBT Bar Association of Greater New York (LeGaL), a former board member of Lambda Legal, and was the first co-chair of the LGBTQ Network of the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA). Montoya is also a former board member of the National Association of Women Lawyers (NAWL) and was a former co-chair of its Diversity Committee.
