The law firm of Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP is pleased to announce that the International Association of Defense Counsel (IADC) has appointed Hinshaw partner Craig Liljestrand to serve on the Defense Counsel Journal’s Editorial Board. He will serve as Editor-elect beginning in July 2024 and then assume the role of Editor in July 2025.

The Defense Counsel Journal, originally published in 1934, serves as a reputable platform for legal scholars and practitioners in the fields of civil defense and insurance to discuss developments and reforms in law. The publication emphasizes scholarly analysis of current legal trends, aimed at informing its readers about pertinent issues they may encounter in their practice.

Liljestrand has held several leadership positions on the IADC, including serving as the North Illinois State Chair from 2021 – 2022 and as the Vice Chair of the Toxic & Hazardous Substances Committee from 2019 – 2022.

Liljestrand defends clients in toxic tort, product liability, and environmental litigation, with a primary focus on trials related to toxic and mass tort, asbestos, chemical, and other occupational disease claims. He serves as both national and regional counsel for major corporations and has contributed to establishing important case law in Illinois that supports employers in toxic and mass tort litigation.
