Hinshaw Named a Law360 Weekly "Legal Lion" for its Defense of Former Colombian Anti-Corruption Director
Law360 has named Hinshaw among its weekly "Legal Lions" for its defense of Luis Moreno Rivera, the former national director of anti-corruption of Colombia, who was sentenced this week to four years in federal prison, after pleading guilty to conspiracy to launder money in order to promote foreign bribery. Hinshaw partner and former federal prosecutor David S. Weinstein represented Moreno throughout the plea process and sentencing proceedings.
The sentencing received considerable media coverage, including:

Prosecutors had sought a jail sentence of seven to nine years, which was disputed by Weinstein in a lengthy sentencing process. In handing out the four-year jail sentence, U.S. District Court Judge Ursula Ungaro said the government's sentence demand "border[ed] on preposterous."
