Financial Services Partner Joins Hinshaw in New Jersey
Mitchell "Mitch" Kurtz brings extensive experience in complex litigation and compliance counseling
Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP today announced that Mitchell "Mitch" Kurtz has joined the firm's Consumer Financial Services practice group in the New Jersey office. Formerly with Parker Ibrahim & Berg LLP, Kurtz has a strong track record representing financial services companies in complex litigation, as well as significant experience with product liability litigation across a broad range of industries.
"Mitch is highly regarded for his stellar track record as a litigator," said Hinshaw partner Brian McGrath, co-chair of the firm's Consumer Financial Services practice group. "He has a diverse, national practice that adds significant depth to Hinshaw's East Coast presence. Many of us have shared clients and have also worked with him for years. We are delighted that he has joined the team."
Kurtz represents financial services companies on all aspects of litigation, and provides counseling on compliance and risk management matters. In addition, he has 20 years of experience defending industrial manufacturing, pharmaceutical, and healthcare companies in product liability litigation.
Hinshaw's national platform and broad range of practice areas were among the reasons he decided to make the move.
"The firm's geographic footprint allows me to be a more strategic partner and provide a level of service to my clients that goes beyond a particular case and jurisdiction," Kurtz said. "I can be involved in a higher level of decision making that impacts the client's entire portfolio. I'm also excited to help expand Hinshaw's product liability capabilities."
Prior to joining PIB Law, Kurtz practiced at McCarter & English, LLP. He received his B.A. from Binghamton University, an M.A. from Boston University School of Medical and Dental Health Sciences, and his J.D. from Rutgers Law School.
"The broad scope of Mitch's litigation practice, coupled with his extensive knowledge of regulatory compliance matters, adds significant depth to our team in New Jersey," said Ellen Silverman, co-partner-in-charge of the New Jersey office.
Kurtz joins former colleagues from PIB Law, who moved to Hinshaw in 2021.
